Pastoral Prayer, 3rd Sunday after Epiphany C

taizeGracious God, You who promises to be with us, guide us with your presence, scatter the fears that bind us, and set us free to live stewards of your promise.  Because you are with us, give us the courage to offer presence to one another, so that the world might know and trust your promise.

Holy Father, Father of Christ who rose from the grave so that we might know your word to be trustworthy and true, help us to live as resurrection people.  Fill us with a desire to know you and love you and pour out your Holy Spirit upon us so that this desire will lead us into seeing the kingdom you are preparing.  Grant us strength as the body of Christ to perpetually search for those who feel lost, those lost in despair or false hope, lost in privilege or poverty, lost in ignorance or knowledge void of wisdom, lost in self-centeredness or abusive servitude.  Open our eyes to see that we have already been found by you, our Lord and redeemer.

Sovereign Lord, Father of all by the power of the Holy Spirit, in You we find our joy, for you formed us as a people of mercy and freedom, in justice and righteousness.  Pour out your Spirit upon us today, that we who are Christ’s body may bear the good news of your ancient promise to all who seek you.  We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever, as we continue to pray saying:

Our Father, who art in heaven

Hallowed be thy name

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done

On earth as it is in heaven

Give us this day our daily bread

And forgive us our trespasses

As we forgive those who trespass against us

Lead us not into temptation

But deliver us from evil

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.  Amen.
